| Preliminaries... |
| First, you're greeted by 3 of the squadron's finest Past Commanders: S. Bell, D. Bell and D. Thames. |
Our very own D/Lt/C Brian Logan and his lovely wife, Coralee, arrive with George Bleyle. Brian is the installing officer for the occasion. |
Outgoing Commander Linda Vornhagen and her "lovely" husband, John. |
| Our incoming Commander, Bob Summers, and his wife, Jackie. Ah, the innocence of youth. Does Bob really know what he's getting into? |
Our incoming Executive Officer, Bob Ball, and his lovely wife, Pat. Watch carefully, Bob, tthis will be your show next year. |
Incoming Admin Officer, Marty Beech and his lovely wife, Karla. Marty has been our treasurer for the past two years, so he can't claim to have been ambushed into this position. Not sure whatever possessed him to... |
| Two birds with one stone - Secretary Cynthia Lowe and SEO Tim Lowe. Hey, Tim, Bob has promised me he WILL call on you for your reports at the meetings! |
And, of course, our own P/C and D/Lt/C Brian Logan and Coralee, again, as Bob's installing officer. |
| Let's Eat!... |
| Margo! Give Jan CPR - I think he just passed out! |
We were very happy to have Carol Alexander join us. |
Nice shot of Jan's haircut. Speaking of haircuts, Denny showed up with a new doo as well. |
| Here we have Don, Don & Dan, with their lovely better halfs - Sue, Cheryl and Sandra - do I detect a pattern in names here? |
Steve, John, Maggie and George enjoying their fruit. |
If it weren't for Mary Jane, I doubt we'd allow this scruffy ol' geezer in the door! |
It's always great to see Lt Dave Garthoff and his sweetheart, Dottie, at our functions. |
| Let The Ceremonies Begin... |
| Does the Coammander look happy, or what? You'd think a great weight had just been lifted from her shoulders. |
Installing officer, Brian, has a few words of congratulations to the outgoing bridge and encouragement to the incoming bridge. |
Jan receives the well-deserved Educational Award for his many hours of duty and devotions to the Education Department of APS.. |
| Margo receives the xxx Award. The Holmes' household is cleaning up! |
Steve wins the Art Bradbury Memorial Award for the second straight year. No one recalls this award being won two years straight in the history of the award. Way to go Stevie! |
Bob Mosey wins the Vessel Examiner award with over 220 vessels examinations last year. Bob was a major factor in Akron being in the top 5 of all squadrons nation-wide in vessel examinations. |
| Incoming Commander Bob Summers receives the coveted Golden Mariner Award for his good samaritan actions last year. |
Marty Beech wins the dubious Sinking Ship Award. Don't worry, Marty, there are some names of distinction on that plaque. You're in good company. |
Soon-to-be Past Commander Vornhagen makes a few parting remarks. |
| Incoming Commander Summers is sworn into office by D/Lt/C Logan. |
Bob is presented with his Commander's Flag. |
Bob's bridge is then sworn in by D/Lt/C Logan. |
| As any good politician will do, Bob makes his promises for the upcoming year. |
Bob then presents Past Commander Vonhagen her Past Commander Flag. |
Wonder what Linda's whispering in Bob's ear? Something like "It's your show now, sucker!" |
| The passing of the Commander's Challenge membership plaque. We ended last year with a growth in membership over the previous year. Keep up the tradition, Bob. |
Commander Bob closes out the ceremonies. Let the party begin! |
| And We Party On! |
| Commander Bob and Jackie begin the dancing to the tunes of Beach Boyz (name of the DJ) |
The dance crowd begins to congregate. |
| Bob giving dance instructions? |
Margo shakes her bootie. |
Sue to Cheryl, "Where are the guys? This is just like High School!" |
| Jan does his John Travolta impersonation. |
"Put your left foot in, put your right foot out, put your...." |
"Whoa dote, whadda I do now, dote?" (Ask me about the joke, sometime.) |
| Susan thought we were doing floor excercises. |
"And if you don't do as I say, I'll send these big boys after you!" |
The wine begins to take hold... |
| Susan gettin' cranked up and ready to dance! |
Here's Tim, just before he hit the floor and awed us all with his break dancing. Too bad the camera wasn't ready! |
The crowd is gettin' rowdy! |
| As the evening wears on, more John Travolta wannabes come out of the woodwork. |
This crowd never quits. Just don't run out of wine! |
To the tune of "New York. New York", the Radio City Rockets kick up their heels. |
