The annual Change of Watch (C.O.W.) is when our new Bridge Officers take office and the previous Bridge Officers take a well deserved break. It is the squadron's premier gala affair - a fun evening of fine food, music, dancing and comraderie, as the following pictures indicate.
| Lt. Ted Alexander has been putting together the COW as long as anyone can remember. So I guess it only appropriate that he seats himself between two roses, his wife, Carol, and our very active, relatively new member, Lt. Irene Frisina. | And here we have, from left, our Commander's "Honey Bun", Lt. Larry Facemire, our District Executive Officer, D/Lt/C Mark Geshke and his wife, Barbara, and our Administrative Officer, Lt/C Brian Logan. |
| Our honored guests (from left), P/C Herb Devis and his daughter, Sandra, and P/D/C Chuck West from Stark County PS. Herb is an honorary member of APS and has been attending our COW about as long as Ted has been putting them together (as long as anyone can remember.) | P/D/C Cloyd McNaull was our installing officer this year and a long-time good friend and previous dock-mate of our incoming Commander. Here seated with his lovely wife, Mary Ann. |
| We were very pleased that new-members Andre and Elsbeth Fritz joined us for the evening. Anyone got a sailboat in the 30 - 36 foot range? Fritz is shopping! In the background is 1st/Lt Jan Holmes, our incoming SEO, and Lt John Vornhagen. | We were also honored with the attendance of Lt. Jim Gisbrecht and his wife, Rita, as they attended their first COW. Jim is our Engine Maintenance instructor. |
| Here, again, is Irene (she sure does get around, doesn't she?) with Sherry and P/C Jim Rudolph, our asst. treasurer. | Two relatively new and very active members, Lt. John and Lt. Linda Vornhagen. Linda has already taken on teaching one of our BoatSmart classes, PRO officer and, now, Membership Involvement. John is our Coop Charting chairman. In a little over a year they both completed Advanced Grades courses through AP. A few more members like these and the rest of us old foggies could retire! |
| Lt. Alan Slaby with his wife, Pat. Alan was in charge of our programs this year at the General Meetings. His success was measured by the increase in attendance at our General meetings this year. | This is probably the most serious expression I've ever seen on Lt. Ed Scott's face. Much different than the coconut wearing Ed at our Conferences. Ed is the squadron wood-working guru. Not enough space here to do him justice. His feats are legendary. |
| Here is the group socializing with cocktails before dinner. | A group of ladies planning social events for the upcoming year, I'm sure. Margo Holmes, Sue Harris, Jeannette Eritano, Coralee Logan and Susan Henry - all valuable and hard-working volunteers that keep the squadron running. |
| Lt. Ray Klein is an invaluable resource for all our boating courses. He is the first course proctor to ever win the Educational Award (1999) due to his hard work and eagerness to do the best job possible. He is also our office services chairman in charge of mailing out the Scuttlebutt and, this year, the direct mail boating course advertising campaigns. | Caught Lt. Don Reljin, our supply officer, here by surprise. Great to see Don at the COW and an unexpected pleasure due to his heavy work schedule - and he was still able to find time and energy to come out and join us this evening. To his left is Lt. Bill Budd, our AP instructor. |
