New BoatSmart Format

On 02 Dec and 09 Dec 2000, Akron Power Squadron conducted the BoatSmart course in a two day, 6 hours per day, format for the first time. It was a smashing success. All students passed and a couple even got 100% on both the USPS part of the exam and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources part of the exam. Although somewhat apprehensive about trying this format, the results gave us confidence that this format can work. We have since held this class in Dec 2001 and Dec 2002. This allows us to have a class in December without interfering with the holidays and gives boaters who cannot attend the standard 6 week course on weekday evenings a chance to take the BoatSmart class on weekends.
