The Akron Power Squadron 2001 Sail Rendezvous was another smashing success. With 15 slots available, all 15 were taken. We even had 2 power boats join us this year. We always welcome our power boating friends along on the Sail Rendezvous'. Brian Logan, event organizer, did a terrific job again. This year, the sail was punctuated with an on-the-water trivia quiz about the Great Lakes. Is it any surprise that our Squadron Education Officer won that contest, despite his crew talking him into 2 wrong answers (yours truly)? Not to be content with that, he also won the predicted finishing order of boats arriving at Vermilion from Huron. And, of course, we had the usual abundance of delicious muffins each morning.
An excellent weekend of fun, beautiful weather (despite the forecast to the contrary) and camaraderie, as the following pictures indicate.
| Brian, our hero and event coordinator! | Would it be a sail rendezvous without good eats? |
| And the goodies just keep on coming! | Just milling about with friends. |
| Just another beautiful day in paradise! | A shot of just a portion of the entire fleet of 15 boats. |
| Just messing about in boats... | Scott with matching boat, covers, hat and clothing. Is this guy color coordinated, or what? |
| And our good friends from Rocky River also showed up at Huron. What a pleasant surprise! | Yet another shot of the fleet. |
| Dave Adams, our Seamanship instructor and his good friend, Jo, aboard the well-traveled Allegro. | Coralee and Sharon testing out these new chairs - actually, more comfortable than they look. |
